Yarmoshyna: I am a member of president's team

"I will keep this post for as long as the head of the state will see it necessary". The chairwoman of Central Election Commission tells the European Radio for Belarus how many local councils will change and why she wants Lukashenka to face a strong contender.

Local elections have been scheduled for April 25. It will be the first poll to take place in accordance with the amended electoral laws. At the same time, many politicians doubt that these amendments will look as good in practice.

Lying around your sofa and avoiding the political competition, it is only possible to criticize. It is totally likely that local administrations might make some errors. But parties now have a possibility of appealing the decisions taken by local administrations in court. I believe that all those amendments provide additional chances. Now it depends on parties whether they will be able to take use of these chances.
